New map pack for COD: Black Ops named "Escalation" will be available for Xbox 360 on May 3rd. Sorry PS3 users, you will have to wait again.
In perfect coincidence with us putting two "First Strike" map pack videos up, Activision has announced that the next downloadable content addition will be available May 3rd for Xbox 360 first. The "Escalation" map pack will offer, again, four new multiplayer maps and a single new zombie mode map. The multiplayer levels are dubbed: Zoo, Convoy, Hotel and Stockpile. Speculate as you will since I don't really care. The more interesting announcement is the new zombie map Call of the Dead. The cagey explanation offered little more than a proclamation that the new map will change the face of zombie mode as players know it. Speculation for how Call of the Dead "takes it to a whole new level" seems a more worthwhile endeavor. I will throw my hat in for bringing a competitive player-versus-player map into the mix. The black sheep developer of the Call of Duty franchise, Treyarch must be feeling pretty good since their Call of Duty: Black Ops broke the record for day one sales of anything entertainment ever. Activision announced that CoD: Black Ops had reached over 360 million dollars in sales in the first 24 hours. This beats last years best seller, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, by an estimated 50 million. This isn't just because of people pruchasing the more expensive editions either since Black Ops sold 5.6 million copies again beating MW2's 4.7 million day one record. Congratulations Treyarch and Black Ops, just watch out for tomahawks. By Griff Hoffmann
